On the PC you would like to EXPORT Microsoft Office settings, do this:

1. Exit any Office applications that are running.
2. Click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Office, click Microsoft Office Tools, click Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard.
3. Go through the Wizard. Don’t change any settings.
4. When completed, navigate to "%userprofile%\My Documents" folder.
5. Cut and Paste the file “New Settings File.OPS” to a USB or CD.

On the PC you would like to IMPORT Microsoft Office settings, do this:

1. Place the file “New Settings File.OPS” from the USB or CD in "%userprofile%\My Documents" folder.
2. Exit any Office applications that are running.
3. Click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Office, click Microsoft Office Tools, click Microsoft Office 2003 Save My Settings Wizard.
4. Click “Restore previously saved settings to this machine”.
5. Click Next.
6. Browse to the file “New Settings File.OPS” location.
7. Click Finish and you’re all done.

YouTube on Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer [IE] 6 does not support web standards and modern technologies to easily develop advanced web sites.

Innovation in web development stagnates as developers has to use obsolete and unnecessarily complex techniques to ensure their pages would render properly in IE.

The online campaign IE6 No More, supported by more than 70 web firms, says that because IE6 browser does not support modern web standards it restricts what developers can do and is “holding the web back”.

Who still uses IE6 and why?

Mostly corporates running their PCs on Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Windows 2000 can only support Internet Explorer up to version 6, while Windows XP can support any version of Internet Explorer up to the latest 8.

Most of the corporates still uses IE6 because they built applications running on Microsoft APIs belonging to IE6, and if they switch to a newer version of Internet Explorer, their applications will stop working.

YouTube and its parent company Google have chosen to phase out support for IE6 after the attack from hackers in China to their platforms.

Digg has been the first web firm to announce their phasing out support for IE6.

We tested Ubuntu from the Live CD on several low and high specs computers powered by Intel processors where Windows is installed and our first conclusions are:

• Faster operating system start up.
• It works just out of the box.
• Scrolling pages is smoother.
• Faster applications start up.
• Less resource (memory, CPU, graphic card) consumption so that it can run on old or low specs PCs.
• It runs on Apple computers too.
